A Two Jackets Podcast

Hey folks! Andrew here…

Two Jackets spent the month of January wrapping up some business from the past. We published a retrospective article about our 2015 Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project, “Cosmic Questers ‘97”; we posted our short superhero film “Meanwhile, at the Citadel of Superheroes…” online; and we released our first feature film, Limpwings, for purchase and rental on DVD and VOD via Amazon! All the while, we’ve also been preparing and getting really excited for the release of a new project!

On Sunday, February 14th, Two Jackets Productions will launch ShamFiction, our first-ever podcast!

In ShamFiction, we break the first rule of fan fiction: that you have to be a fan to write it! Each episode begins with two of us summarizing the plot, characters, and tropes of a film, television series, book, etc. that the third guy hasn’t seen or read. Then that odd-man-out takes the information provided, writes a short piece of prose inspired by it, and returns to read it on air. After the reading, we discuss what the writer got right about the property, what he got wrong, what worked about the piece, and what didn’t.

On the 14th, the first four episodes of ShamFiction will be available via all the popular podcatchers (including iTunes), and right here on TwoJackets.com. Consider it our Valentine to you! From there, we’ll be releasing a new episode every Sunday for the rest of the year. In the meantime, follow ShamFiction on Twitter and Facebook. We’ll be posting on both those feeds when the podcast goes live!

Also, in case you’re wondering, Two Jackets isn’t leaving filmmaking behind. Once we get the podcast going and it becomes routine, we’re going to be devoting a lot of 2016 to planning our next big filmmaking endeavor. There’s also the 2016 Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project in June, which we don’t plan on missing! Keep an eye here on TwoJackets.com and follow our page on Facebook for all the latest news on our film projects.

Limpwings is now available on DVD and VOD

Hey folks, Andrew here…

Finally, over four years since its premiere at the historic Fargo Theatre in October 2011, our first feature-length film, Limpwings, is now available for purchase on DVD and digital purchase or rental via Amazon.com.

Check out the trailer here:

Limpwings is the story of Daniel Hall, a fourth year college student who’s nowhere near graduation. Daniel sits idly by as his best friend and roommate, Hope, prepares for her medical school exams and a future that will take her far away from him. In the midst of a serious arrested development crisis, Daniel awakens after a one night stand with blood gushing from wounds in his hands and feet. A quick Wikipedia search tells him that he has stigmata, the wounds of Christ. Soon after, he is visited by a real (albeit wingless) angel, whom Hope nicknames “Limpwings," who tells Daniel that God has chosen him to lead His people. Now Daniel is torn between his responsibilities as a savior-in-training and as a friend to Hope. The trouble is that responsibility isn’t really one of Daniel’s strong suits.

We are so excited to have Limpwings available online for you and the whole wide world to see! As our first foray into feature filmmaking, it holds a special place in our hearts. You see, Limpwings isn’t only the coming-of-age story of Daniel Hall; it's the coming-of-age story of Two Jackets Productions. We produced it just after wrapping up our college web series, 3rd West Ballard, and just before becoming involved in the Twin Cities film community. In seeing it through, we proved to ourselves that we could handle a project of this scope, both artistically and logistically. Since then, with our short film work, we’ve continued to hone the creative and practical aspects of the craft.

Before you head over to Amazon to buy or rent the film, I want to give a shout out to the cast and crew who helped make it a reality. Their commitment and selflessness every day on set, across five weeks split over two summers, reminds us of how special the collaboration of filmmaking is. This is why we continue to hold a deep respect for the time and talents of our collaborators, no matter how big or small their role.

Now get on over to Amazon and order the film! Then check back in early February, when we will announce our next big endeavor. Until then, keep it limp!

Minneapolis 48HFP Interview

Happy Earth Day, earthlings! Eric here.

Recently, Andrew, Marcus, and I sat down (actually, we were standing) for an interview with the lovely humans behind the Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project. After we were lucky enough to walk away with the "Golden Horseflap" at last year's competition, they figured we might know a thing or two about making films in 48 Hours. It was an easy mistake to make.

Stunning humility aside, it was a great interview and we had a lot of fun talking about our process and doling out advice to new filmmakers! Needless to say, we spoke for far too long and the resulting hour of chatter was cut down to a lean two minutes. Check out the video below and then sign up for the competition!

Also, we're officially signed up for the 2015 Minneapolis 48 Horseflap! See you there! #48HFP
